Day 17: A day of driving into Tanzania

Today was a day of driving. There’s almost nothing else to be said! We left our campsite in Malawi at 5:30 am and arrived at the campsite in Iringa,Tanzania, at 6:30 pm.

Observation (and country stats) confirm that Tanzania is much more developed than Malawi and Zambia. The sun was shining and the scenery was beautiful – unfortunately here’s a prime example of a landscape picture that just doesn’t do the view justice:

Once we got to the campsite we were scheduled to eat traditional Tanzanian fare at a lovely candlelit restaurant on the campsite. In the end it was butternut squash soup, grilled veg, and pasta with meatballs. I’d confidently say this does not classify as traditional Tanzanian food, but it was very good. We have a cook (Godfree) traveling with us. His food is honestly very good, but eating out was a nice treat for all since we’re all responsible for cleaning up.
